COVID-19: JOBKEEPER SERIES | Part 03

Part 3: ATO DEADLINES FOR JOBKEEPER APPLICATIONS

The Government’s JobKeeper wage subsidy programme, while still applauded for keeping the essential connection between businesses and their labour force, has flaws that are becoming more evident as time progresses - only to be expected in a scheme that was hastily put together due to time pressures and will take some negotiating by employers.

Part 3 of this JobKeeper Series blog focusses on ATO deadlines and JobKeeper payment dates.

ATO Deadlines for JobKeeper payments:

20 April
Enrolments opened for JobKeeper for eligible businesses. See our previous News article here for more info on eligibility
1 & 2 week of May
 Payments commence for eligible businesses
4 May
Identify your company’s employees that you believe are eligible (if you haven’t already). Remember, you must provide them the Notification Form which they sign to agree, and ensure they are not claiming from any other employers
8 May
Final date you can pay your employees for April payments (two fortnightly payments)
31 May
Applications close for April / May JobKeeper payments

Monthly Business Declarations

Each month, your business must submit a business declaration via the ATO portal to:

  1. Re-confirm your business and employee eligibility

  2. Provide your business’s current and projected GST turnover

JobKeeper fortnight payment dates

  • Remember that while JobKeeper is paid in fortnightly payments, you do not need to change the frequency that your business pays your employees.  However, there is a deadline each month on when you need to pay your employees by – do not exceed it.

  • Taken directly from the ATO website, fortnightly payments for JobKeeper are as follows:
